The Nitty-Gritty

Wouldn’t it be great if all the things we wanted to do were all the things that needed to be done? I’m staring at this huge list of things that I need to keep track of and work on, and somehow need to fit into something of a regular schedule. I had no idea there were so many things I try to keep track of on a regular basis! Sometimes oblivion is bliss – but we can live in oblivion for only so long before something of reality smacks us in the face.

So today doesn’t look all that exciting, working on things that need to get done when all I really want to do is continue exploring my other artistic ventures. For the last two days I’ve been working on a new quilting project – a set of four placemats. I’m loving the fabric and the design is starting to show itself, rather than just hanging out in my head. It’s still got a bit of a ways to go to finished, but I definitely made progress the lasts two days: started with 160 3.5″ squares and turned them into this:

24 strips of 5 squares each

Each placemat will get 8 re-assembled strips

Yesterday all those strips were cut in half at a random angle and I’m now in the process of sewing them back together with different halves. I can’t wait to see them finished! But it’ll have to wait until I get some more of the nitty gritty, “must get it done” things tackled.

Good luck with all your “nitty gritties”.
