Photo of the Week, Year 3, Week 45

If you’ve ever spoken with me about what I love to photograph I typically talk about my love of texture – especially when it comes from weathered wood, peeling paint, and rusted metal.  I fully embrace the idea that all things are part of a cycle.  While I appreciate all stages of the cycle, from fresh new beginnings to the dilapidated ends, lately I find myself fascinated with things in their more aged state.  I love the evidence of a past, of a long journey nearing a resting point.  I like to think that this stage is not nearing an ultimate end, but simply ending one portion of an ongoing cycle.  Everything that happens in one stage of the cycle, feeds into the next and should be allowed to happen.  I’m choosing to take a closer look at the particular stage that is usually accompanied by feelings of sorrow and loss as we perceive an end we cannot stop.  I want to see if I can find more than that in this stage.
