I Want To Get Lost…

…and get right with my soul.

I heard these words in a Rodney Atkins song the other day and got goose bumps.  It was one of those moments when I said to myself “Yes!  That’s it exactly!”  Those few words sum up a a feeling deep inside me that is at once complex and yet so very simple.

Getting lost…

…leave the highway and drive down a lonely road…walk through a wide open field…pass the day watching the waves endlessly roll in…sit a while beneath the tallest tree in the forest…

Finding my soul…

…truly see something you’ve overlooked before…listen to the soft words in the wind blowing through the tall grass…feel the tide pushing and pulling the earth…begin to understand how small and how big life can be…

I wish you well in getting lost…in getting a little more right with your soul…

All of the photos above are from my recent trip down the Southern Oregon and Northern California Coast.  The song that inspired me for this post is “Take a Back Road” by Rodney Atkins.

  1. You’re perfectly right, Jessica. The things we forget go down to the most simple, bare necessities our soul requires. One needs to get lost… to awaken the spirit. Wonderful self-discovery set of photographs! Nice of you to share. :)
