Photo of the Week, Year 3, Week 37

“Photography suits the temper of this age – of active bodies and minds. It is a perfect medium for one whose mind is teeming with ideas, imagery, for a prolific worker who would be slowed down by painting or sculpting, for one who sees quickly and acts decisively, accurately.”  ~Edward Weston

I never realized I felt the same way as this amazing photographer.  I’ve said many times that I do not have the patience to draw or paint as realistically as I’d be content with.  Photography allows me to capture the realism I want, but it also has the flexibility to allow me to add my own artistic touch – to turn a photograph into the image I see in my mind.

Thanks to everyone that participated this week!

If you receive my emails, you may have already heard that after this month (October) I will no longer be accepting submissions for POTW.  I know that this will come as a disappointment to some of you that participate a lot, and I’m sorry for that.  My schedule has simply gotten too hectic to continue to organize a group POTW each week.  My focus it turning to growing my business and I hope you all will understand my decision in this.  Everyone is still welcome to participate for the next three weeks, and after that I hope you continue to practice your art on your own.

I will continue to post my own weekly photo here as I don’t plan to stop my regular practice.  As I’ve mentioned several times, I have found this regular practice to help me improve my photography (even when my weekly photo isn’t particularly stellar).  This practice not only helps me to keep my creative momentum going, but it also trains my mind to jump in and out of that creative state as I need it to.

So until next time, have fun shooting!

I will miss the group posting, Jessica. The weekly mix has been intriguing and inspiring. I am glad you will still be posting your POTW, though. It ‘s a treat to see where your imagination takes you.
